Convert Out-of-Date URLs into Up-to-Date URLs

The metadata for oceanographic and atmospheric sciences datasets often includes URLs that are out-of-date. This service is an effort to solve the problem. The input can be any text (possibly including HTML or XML tags), up to 1000 characters long. The output will be the same as the input, but with updated URLs.

Convert Out-of-Date URLs into Up-to-Date URLs

Notes:

Want To Do Conversions from within a Computer Program, Script, or Web Page?

If you change the extension of this web page's URL from .html to .txt, and add the query text=some%20percent-encoded%20text, ERDDAP will respond with just the text result, but modified to have updated URLs.

An example is
https://erddap.nanoos.org/erddap/convert/urls.txt?text=For%20more%20information,%20see%20ftp%3A%2F%2Feclipse.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/OI-daily/daily-sst.pdf

Percent Encoding - The parameter values in the URL (the part after 'text=') must be properly percent encoded (external link): all characters other than A-Za-z0-9_-!.~'()* must be encoded as %HH, where HH is the 2 digit hexadecimal value of the character, for example, a space becomes %20. Characters above #127 must be converted to UTF-8 bytes, then each UTF-8 byte must be percent encoded (ask a programmer for help). There are websites that percent encode and decode for you (external link).
